We use a wide range of programming languages such as JavaScript, HTML and CSS, and we leverage agile development techniques that allow us to work collaboratively and interactively. We focus on writing clean, organised code, using the latest generation frameworks or building from scratch. The use of advanced tools to guarantee efficiency and quality is a must in our work.

Our signature? Simple and high-performance solutions, even for the most complex projects.

When sharing rhymes with innovation, the answer is one: to amaze.
That's what we did for ACIN - Accenture Customer Innovation Network, a Milan-based hub dedicated to digital transformation, founded by Accenture.

On behalf of IBV, we developed an internal content distribution tool that enabled the creation of immersive and impactful presentations

The idea was to create presentations using classic tools (such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word, videos, images, PDFs and websites) and make multimedia content available across the various screens in fifteen themed rooms.

Each room had multiple screens of different shapes and sizes and had been set up to represent a specific theme: from the fashion room to the grocery store, all the way to the space dedicated to 360° presentations.

One of these rooms had three LED panels placed side by side and moved by large mechanical arms, also controllable via the content distribution tool to dynamically create different configurations.

The presentations were "guided" using integrations with classic physical clickers or via Amazon "Alexa" voice commands.

The right mix of technologies and tools made this far-from-trivial challenge possible. From the development of Windows WinForm client applications written in C# to the creation of a content management system in Angular, from the APIs used for communication with the DB via Laravel PHP, to the development of the real-time communication layer in Node.js, with the MQTT protocol: everything contributed to bringing the show to life.

The main challenge that emerged in this project was the simultaneous reproduction, on different areas of the same screen, of multiple complex PowerPoint presentations (for example, containing high-quality video content).

To address this requirement, we created a solution that, by exploiting certain features of low-level WinForm programming, made it possible to play up to nine PowerPoint presentations simultaneously.

To succeed in this endeavour, professionalism and experience played an important role: we could not physically reproduce such a complex setup in our offices. Despite this, the meticulous planning of every aspect ensured that on demo day, at the ACIN headquarters, the platform worked brilliantly!

Sometimes
our work is truly
VISIOONARY

It happens when technology comes to life and becomes an opportunity to communicate in an engaging way, capturing the audience. That's what happened with BALDI EXPERIENCE, a high-tech offline installation based on iBeacon technology and holographic projections.

Baldi Experience

At the heart of the project was a need: to showcase Baldi's products by demonstrating how they could be configured through different combinations of materials. The solution we devised combined the physical experience with the technological one, allowing visitors to interact with simple elements and view videos with an immersive 3D effect on holographic screens.

Without any need for assistance, the user would stand in front of a large block of raw marble that served as a table and, by stepping onto a platform near the table, activated a stepper motor located "behind the scenes" of the projection. In this way, they started the interactive video, launching the immersive experience.

Explore the mechanics+

The video consisted of acting segments and 3D animated video clips representing a vase and the possible combinations of materials and finishes available. The actor started the interactive session with a language selection and guided the user step by step through an experience that ended with the final configuration of the completed vase.

The final result was displayed as a photorealistic 3D holographic video, showing the vase crafted with the materials chosen by the user.

The installation was exhibited at the "Triennale del Design Milano 2016", at the former Fabbrica del Vapore, and remained active for 3 months, generating great interest among visitors. The secret of its success? A mix of technical solutions that concealed the complexity of the work, highlighting instead the product and its features.

To conceal the technological elements from visitors and ensure that the interaction consisted solely of the physical touch of Baldi's materials, we applied iBeacon stickers under each interactive element. Using a native Android app installed on a tablet behind the scenes, we detected which objects the user touched in response to the questions asked by the video actor: two wooden blocks with Italian and English flag images (for language selection), three types of stone and two finishes, one in gold and one in silver.

The app was able to control two projectors that triggered the holographic video playback, doing so via a TCP/IP socket connection with the WATCHOUT software, installed on a dedicated PC.

Baldi Experience

Unexpected challenges arose. The various stones to which the iBeacons were attached were highly reflective, and the signals generated by the sensors could not reach the tablet correctly. This condition had not been accounted for during our tests and required an on-the-fly change to the interactive elements.

The solution?
To isolate the objects with a custom-built wooden base and hide the stickers inside. Projects like this prove one thing: the more demanding the challenges, the more astonishing the results.

When it comes to
CHALLEENGES

our approach makes the difference.

At NeedNap, the union between physical experience and digital solution is fundamental. This combination allows us to create immersive projects with simple interaction and a richer user experience than ever.

For the "AR VIAGGIO NEL TEMPO" (AR Time Travel) project, created for the Mongolfiera Shopping Centre in Molfetta, Puglia, the goal was to entertain schoolchildren visiting the centre. The theme was time travel. Visitors could choose between four different settings: Prehistory, The Future, The Roman Empire and The Age of Discovery. For each scenario, we created a 3D character for users to interact with.

AR Viaggio nel tempo
AR Viaggio nel tempo

The setup consisted of a large screen and a webcam. Interaction took place through the use of different markers printed on forex that had to be shown to the webcam. The software, using a facial recognition system capable of working with multiple faces simultaneously, identified the user holding a specific marker and superimposed on their face a funny mask, based on the scenario and the symbol on the marker itself.

At that point, the 3D character appearing on the screen performed actions within the chosen historical setting, often generating great hilarity and fun among the children. At the end of the experience, visitors could take the marker with the camera symbol to trigger the software to take a souvenir photo, which was sent by email.

AR Viaggio nel tempo

The AR VIAGGIO NEL TEMPO project was built entirely in Unity 3D for Teorema d'Immagine, in collaboration with Mondorama Studios for the 3D elements and Alphavoice for the sound design.

Facial recognition also formed the basis of another project we developed for TALLAS, a secondary brand of DAB Pumps. Again, to engage users, we leveraged both facial recognition technology and marker detection. The result was a Windows application in Unity 3D through which users could interact with a kiosk inside thirty Leroy Merlin stores in France, then discover the features of the Smarty product through 3D videos produced by Mondorama Studios.

The facial recognition placed a branded cap on top of the user's head, making them feel like a Tallas installer. Using the available set of markers — large forex paddle-shaped cards placed at the kiosk — users could control the video presentation and expand their knowledge of the product. For the occasion, we had to configure as many as thirty mini PCs that, on start-up, automatically launched the installed application.

Software solutions are
DYNAAMIC

tools capable of supporting a client's day-to-day operations.

Such as high-value management software with a web cloud-based approach. One example is what Regione Toscana asked us to build: a platform capable of managing the entire process of generating and managing prices for the Public Works Price List.

The name of the software we created for Regione Toscana was already a promise: €ASY. To design it, we had to gather the real needs of operators in the sector, mapping the dynamics to actual operational phases. This platform was subsequently adopted as a model by Regione Sardegna, Campania, Calabria, Piemonte, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Puglia and the Autonomous Province of Bolzano.

€ASY was designed with a management back-end and a public-facing front-end for end users. The collected data flowed into a PostgreSQL database that, year after year, enriched the historical records, enabling price comparisons through the calculation of percentage deviations.

The front-end application (both for the management and public sections) was written in Angular and used optimised techniques to reduce API calls and maintain real-time synchronisation of information edited simultaneously by multiple users.

Gestionale €asy

Also for Regione Toscana

we built €ASYCOMP: a web-based platform used by RUPs (Single Project Managers) to create cost estimation projects for public procurement tenders in the public works sector.

Via this software — designed following Google's approach to its own cloud tools, such as Google Documents — each professional involved could access and process information in real time, simultaneously with other users.

Once the winning contractor had been identified, it was possible to follow the entire construction site accounting process, managing the measurements logbook, attendance register, accounting records, progress reports and the issuance of payment certificates.

Built using Zend Framework, Laravel and Angular for the front-end, the platform has demonstrated longevity and stability over the years, remaining open to possible integrations and implementations with complementary solutions in the public works sector.
